ESA/ESOC Climbing Club

Some members and friends of the ESOC climbing club have seen Darmstadt from a very unusual perspective.

The underworld of Darmstadt was created long time ago in order to support the various Beer Breweries in the area to cool their beer. Huge tunnel systems
and chambers are still existing and are open for tours. Even much more tunnels are not renovated yet or filled up with building rubble etc.

Our two tourguides took us 18 people safely through the underworld which was nothing for claustrophobics. We had to be proficient in Crawling, jumping, bit of climbing and squeezing through wholes in order to get through the pathes below Dieburger Strasse.

It has been a great event which we are surely going to organise again next year for the ones who where on the waiting list for this year's event and of course for everybody else who is interested.
