Over the spring and summer the Climbing Club plans to organise a monthly climbing trip over the following weekends:
- 13-14 May
- 10-11 June
- 15-16 July
- 12-13 August
- 09-10 September
Rather than specifying a particular destination at this point in time for a given weekend the intention is to decide on a place in the week running up to the weekend to ensure the Club visits an area with the best weather. In this way you can plan ahead knowing the Club will definitely go climbing that weekend but not have it cancelled because the weather is poor at the chosen location. Some places we could consider visiting are, e.g. Frankenjura (between Bayreuth and Nürnberg), Wilder Kaiser (between Kufstein and Kitzbühel in Austria), Lechquellengebirge (southeast of the Bodensee in Austria), Swiss Jura, Ammergau, Lorenzoboulderfels (near Strasbourg), Battert (near Baden-Baden), Donautal and the Pfalz. Several of these areas also have excellent mountain bike opportunities, so these weekends do not have to exclusively be about purely climbing but could combine several sports into the weekend. Some of these destinations are also easily accessible from Darmstadt within a day so those that cannot commit to a whole weekend should also be able to join just for the day.
The Climbing Club will subsidise the weekend trips by picking up the campsite fees and contributing towards the cost of petrol/diesel of members who have paid the 2006 subscription to the ESOC Climbing Club on the condition that at least four members who have paid the 2006 subscription are along on the trip.
